Habs Future for the week of November 29

The Three Stars of the Week:

1. LW Max Pacioretty continues to be top prospect for the Montreal Canadiens outside the team this season, he is now the three-time 1^st Star of Hab’s Future. Pacioretty added three more goals to his scoring to aid the Bulldogs during a bumpy week, his two goals against Abbotsford on Wednesday would force a shootout that led to an eventual win by the Bulldogs and their only win during the week. Pacioretty has scored an amazing ten of the last sixteen goals scored by the Hamilton Bulldogs and is third in scoring in the AHL. Pacioretty’s development of his shot and scoring is a great revelation for his NHL potential as his best season for goals previously was 21 in Junior A Hockey in 2006-2007 over 60 games. Pacioretty now has 14 on his season and is just 24 games into an 80-game AHL season.

2. RW Brendan Gallagher continues to be the leading goal scorer among all junior prospects in the Canadiens organization as he finished his week with two goals and one assist. Gallagher now has twenty four goals in twenty nine games this season, is 2^nd overall in the WHL for goals scored and 5^th overall in league scoring. The young winger with a complete season in the WHL is projecting to score an impressive 60 goals.

3. C David Desharnais is definitely not content to avoid being on the score sheet, he added three assists to his scoring totals, all as the steady center to Max Pacioretty to keep pace with the Bulldog’s MVP player and stay tied for the team lead in scoring. Desharnais is a team-best +10 and is tied for 1^st in assists in the AHL with 21 for his season. He is currently also tied for 3^rd overall in league scoring.

Worthy Mentions: bubble prospect RW Steve Quailer is the feel-good update of the week, after having a rough start to his season and missing all of last season with an ACL tear, Quailer had a goal and an assist in two games with Northeastern University over the weekend and went +2. C Louis Leblanc returned from injury and scored a goal in his first game back with the Montreal Juniors, he now has 13 in 22 games. D Morgan Ellis saw another rough week with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles as the team lost 3 of 4 games, but he added two goals and a assist to his scoring. RW Danny Kristo had two assists in his first multi-point game of the season with his North Dakota team. C Gabriel Dumont scored his first shootout goal, a game-winner for the Hamilton Bulldogs over the Abbotsford Heat. C Andreas Engqvist was the only Bulldog over than Max Pacioretty over the week to score a goal. G Petteri Simila recorded his third shutout and has 3 in 19 games on his season.

Question Marks: RW Maxim Trunev was scratched twice by his KHL team during the week. D Jarred Tinordi has no points in 21 games and his London Knights have lost 7 of their last 10 games. C Ryan White is out of the lineup with the Hamilton Bulldogs with a knee injury. C Ben Maxwell is day to day with Hamilton dealing with an upper-body injury. RW Ian Schultz has now played 15 games in the AHL with no points. The Hamilton Bulldogs roster seems very snakebit, with Pacioretty being responsible for 10 of the team’s last 16 goals, the second-leading goal scorer on the team is still Yannick Weber and he’s not been with Hamilton for their last 9 games.

The AHL Report: The Hamilton Bulldogs have been the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens since 2002. It is the most common route for developing Montreal Canadiens prospects into full-time members of the organization. There are currently 13 members of the team that may one day fill out a role for the Canadiens.
