The Three Stars of the Week:
1. LW Max Pacioretty should be no stranger to anyone by now as he appears in the 3 Stars selections for a 4th straight week. Pacioretty scored three goals and one assist to make him the leading goal scorer in the AHL with seventeen goals and have him second overall in the league in points. Pacioretty scored a goal in each of the three games he played during the week, including the overtime winner against the Rochester American in a Friday night match. With seventeen goals and fifteen assists in 27 games this season, Pacioretty has now passed his AHL-best scoring of six goals and twenty three assists in 37 games in his rookie AHL season. It appears his efforts were also enough to impress in-attendance head coach of the Montreal Canadiens Jacques Martin as mere hours after the game was over, Max Pacioretty was called up to the Montreal Canadiens.
2. G Karri Ramo earns top honours on the week for another flawless performance with 3 straight wins for his KHL club Avangard Omsk. Ramo allowed only 5 goals over those three games and kept a 1.66 Goals Against Average with a sharp .928 save percentage. Ramo since October 16th has won 16 games and lost only 3, his consistent work in nets has his team 5th overall in the KHL. His season stats stand at 1.93 GAA and a .926 save percentage. Ramo’s GAA is good enough for 3rd overall in the KHL, 6th in save percentage and leads the entire KHL for wins by a goaltender.
3. LW Olivier Fortier makes an impressive assertion by becoming the first bubble prospect to make the 3 Stars selections with a 4-point game, tripling his scoring totals in the AHL this season. Fortier led the scoring drive for the Hamilton Bulldogs in a 5-1 win over the Toronto Marlies scoring the first, third and fifth goals of the game to complete his first professional hat trick and more than double his scoring on the season. Fortier would also assist on what would be deemed the game-winning goal of the game. An under-the-radar forward in the organization, Fortier is a former Guy Carbonneau Trophy winner in the QMJHL for best defensive forward, but has battled a lot of injuries in his last two seasons.
Worthy Mentions: D Mathieu Carle has been very sharp in replacing Yannick Weber as the lead offensive defencemen of the Hamilton Bulldogs, he had a goal and 3 assists on his week. LW Andrew Conboy scored goals in consecutive games to come within 2 goals of his previous season’s best that he collected in 66 games last season. C David Desharnais continued his excellent playmaking and added four assists on his week to tie Pacioretty for the scoring lead on the Bulldogs, tie 2nd overall in the AHL for scoring and 2nd overall and be the second in assists in the league at 25. G Robert Mayer enjoyed a rare start and won in Hamilton’s Friday night match against Rochester with 2 goals against and a .935 save %. RW Aaron Palushaj is making himself a scoring threat with the Hamilton Bulldogs again, he had 2G, 2A on his week and improved to 20 points in 21 games. RW Brendan Gallagher had his 25th goal of the season in 31GP before departing for the Team Canada World Junior Championship Camp. D Mac Bennett found himself fortunate enough to participate in the “Big Chill” NCAA game played in front of a crowd of an incredible 113,411 people, Bennett played for University of Michigan, who won the match 5-0.
Question Marks: RW Alexander Avtsin has no points in his last 7 games. RW Ian Schultz still has no points over 16 games and was scratched twice during the week, has been demoted off of Habs Future for time being. RW Danny Kristo still slumping with only one goal and 8 points in 20 games on his season at North Dakota. Ben Maxwell is out indefinitely with an upper body injury. C Ryan White’s knee injury will likely have him not return until the end of December, or possibly even later. C Louis Leblanc was without a point in two games as he recovers from an upper-body injury, just before departing for the Team Canada World Junior Championship Camp. C Joonas Nattinen and RW Maxim Trunev were each healthy scratches on a game this week.

The AHL Report: The Hamilton Bulldogs have been the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens since 2002. It is the most common route for developing Montreal Canadiens prospects into full-time members of the organization. There are currently 13 members of the team that may one day fill out a role for the Canadiens. The Hamilton Bulldogs are first in the North Division of the AHL, tied at 3rd overall in the Western Conference and 5th overall in the league with a record of 16-7-1-3. LW Andrew Conboy has recently made himself noticeable enough to get promoted to the AHL Watch List, RW Ian Schultz with no points in 16 games and two scratches on the week is demoted to the bubble for now.
